ARMPIT DETOX + NATURAL DEODORANT RECOMMENDATIONS

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about natural deodorants and how to transition to one on The Vibe Tribe, so I figured I'd share the knowledge on this ARMPIT/SKIN DETOX.

Almost anyone who's tried transitioning to natural deodorant knows the stink associated with it. Here’s some comfort: you don't really smell like that. Don't get discouraged!

The antiperspirant industry has led us to believe that sweating is unnatural. The truth is, it’s a normal body process for removing heat and toxins from the body. Our armpits have a huge role in this cycle, as they are the site of a large collection of lymph nodes (where these foreign particles are filtered). Years of suppressing this filtration process by not allowing these things to come out has caused for toxic buildup and the killing off of beneficial bacteria in our armpits. Because of this, the switch to a natural deodorant may leave you with an itchy rash or smellin' yourself a little more than usual, now that there's nothing blocking that pathway.

Sweating is NATURAL and should be expected. As a naturally sweaty person (I have my father to thank for that!), instead of trying to stop myself from sweating, I’ve just learned to deal with it better. I usually wear sleeveless tops, and if I don’t, I almost exclusively wear black to make the sweat less noticeable. Ironically, the more I’ve come to peace with the fact that it will happen, the less I seem to sweat, or at least the easier it is to deal with.

But just because you sweat, doesn’t mean you should SMELL. Bentonite clay is a naturally occurring clay that when wet, has a negative-charge that allows it to bind to positively-charged molecules (i.e. Heavy metals, toxins, etc.) and draw them out of the body. This makes it a great product to use to draw those built-up toxins out of your armpits.

This detox has worked wonders for me on reducing smell and easing the transition from chemical-filled deodorants to a natural option. Plus it’s super cheap + easy, too, so give it a try!

You'll need:

Directions:

  1. Mix till combined in a thick yogurt-like consistency
  2. Apply on armpits.....and face/neck if you'd like😇
  3. After 10-15 mins, wash off in shower with warm washcloth
  4. Dry thoroughly, and make sure to hydrate!

*If you have sensitive skin, try part water/part ACV

✖️Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, do this 1-2 times per week for 1-3 weeks when first transitioning. Then afterwards, you can do it every few months just to help with the natural detox process!

✖️I recommend doing this right before your night shower, as it can make you suuuuper sleepy

✖️NEVER mix using metal; use a ceramic or glass bowl if possible!

Our Deodorant Recommendations

EO Deodorant spray is literally organic alcohol + essential oils (I use the citrus scent). This is my favorite!

Schmidt's Charcoal & Magnesium Deodorant for stick-deodorant lovers. There are lots of scents besides this one to choose from!

Clay Dry Deodorant is another good one!
